The horse is not thirsty

It is really amazing of what is happening in education. Standards are increasing, yet ability is decreasing, but it is not just the ability; it is the lack of desire. When you are given everything, why should you work? What is the incentive?

Before I taught in the behavioral school, I was teaching at an upper middle class, affluent high school, and I had a student with an IEP (Individualized Educational Plan) and in his IEP, I had to provide notes for him. I , of course, had to go along, but when I was lecturing, the student had his head down and was not even listening. He had no reason or purpose to work.

Students sometimes need assistance but they NEVER need to be pampered.
