Before you enter an argument…
Remember the three brothers: facts, opinions and interpretations
Whether it is about politics, science or who is the g.o.a.t. of any sport or any category, each statement made falls under one of the three categories.
Facts, of course, can be verified or documented.
Opinions are just how you feel about something.
And interpretations are explanations ( also opinions) but go on to translate some possible meaning or connection.
For example, why do some schools succeed while others do not?
It can be based on so many reasons.
Currently, my local school district’s enrollment is down.
This could have many explanations:
-more options
-concerns about bullying, intimidation, etc.
-too much bureaucracy
-too big to manage.
Every year, each school undergoes changes in staff and for many reasons:
-retirement
-promotion
-relocating
-other.
However, if there is an over 80% of staff turnover, something is usually not right, and oftentimes, you will receive nothing more than pathetic excuses.
However, the whole idea is for students to think critically about issues and provide meaningful interpretations and action plans for problem solving.
Anything less is counterproductive.
