Keep filling up the leaky bucket, but ignore the leaks.
Those damn Republicans are trying to destroy the public school system. Damn them. Before you know it, they will go after the precious military industrial complex and the poor Washington Lobbyists.
Both sides are hypocritical and disingenuous at times, but it seems that every time a Democrat is asked what they think about Republicans advocating school choice, the Democrat approaches the argument as if the public school system is the victim.
They are taking money away from the criminal (I mean away from the public school system)
It is obvious that the public school system (like Social Security), is a failed system, and yet you are insensitive and uncaring if you choose to starve the failed system.
This is ridiculous.
Ok there is an argument that we could fix the public school system instead. Democrats do not realize that if you have competition, you will fix the public school system in the process.
The public school system has a monopoly on the tax money. Is that really fair?
What about the retired couple with no kids on a fixed income forced to pay?
What about the local business owner?
Or the parent who chooses (yes, it is a choice; fair enough) to send the child to a private school and pay costly tuition?
If you want to fix public education, do not reward them with more money if they keep failing.
If you want to fix public education, get rid of administrators who are only there to climb the ladder to six figure incomes.
If you want to fix public education, get rid of teacher’s unions, and instead provide a support system for teachers, parents, and students in which all of the previous mentioned groups have real accountability.
There are some great public-school teachers, schools, and success stories, but they still represent the government, and the government, much like criminals, hate one thing:
Competition.
Because that leads to accountability and REAL solutions, as opposed to filling up the leaky bucket and hiding the leaks.
Until then, keep filling that leaky bucket, and continue to feel good about yourself because you really “care” about public education.
Before you know it, you will try to convince us that there are more than two sexes.
