Teachers have too many battles

Teachers have many too many battles to fight If you are a teacher and have never been called to the principal’s office during the day, you have been robbed of one of educations’ biggest adrenaline rush-if you like that sort of thing. During the last day of class before Christmas vacation ( or winter break), you are excited to be off for two weeks. In addition, you get to see family and create nice memories. But on December 16, 2016, I was called into the principal’s office during the last day before break during the last period of the day. What was the emergency? Did President Obama need to consult me regarding a sensitive international incident? No, it was because the principal was concerned about my teaching. She waited until that day and time to express her “concerns.” Now don’t get me wrong. I always listen to fair criticism about my teaching and I always want to improve, but I was put in a situation with absolutely no support and I felt overwhelmed. So why do I even mention this? It shows that teachers have many battles and too many school administrators perceive teachers as the enemy. During my whole teaching career, I heard patronizing sentiments like, “teachers are overworked and underappreciated.”
