The Color of Common Sense

There is a Korean name for the concept, “water up, fire down” that I forget how to spell and annunciate, but it refers to a healthy state for the body when the body has a cool head and warm heart, hands, abdomen, and feet. The Dahnjan, the second chakra that is located two inches below the belly button and one inch inward, serves as the energy distribution center. So, when it is warm, the body releases cool energy upward to the head, and warm energy is released downward. We have both fire and water energy within each of us, and it is symbolically fitting that the colors that represent two warring parties are both red and blue. The Democrats, of course are blue and the Republicans, of course, are Red, so when I hear our own governor pleading to keep Nevada Blue, I begin to cringe because first of all, I know he is obviously trying to keep his job and I understand that, but what about the rest of us independents who have the perspective to see the destructive policies of both sides? It is pretty obvious that Democrats, at least the current ones, are horrible with foreign policy, crime, security and economics and the Republicans are horrible with budgets, personal freedom, and social security, so what color represents common sense? Once I find out, that will be the color of my flag. Neither party deserves my vote, but if a candidate represents any element of common sense, that will be the candidate who will receive my vote. We cannot even agree on whether something is a crisis or not. We cannot even agree on whether something is a protest, a riot, or an insurrection. We cannot even agree on whether something is a choice or a consequence of a choice. We need each other. We need to disagree to come up with solutions, even if they are compromises. We need to look at the relationship between fire and water in our own bodies. WE NEED TO LOOK AT THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN OUR EGOS AND OUR TRUE SELVES! So on election night in two weeks and in two years and beyond, the commentators will try to dazzle you with the pretty graphics of red and blue, but no matter if it’s a red wave, blue wave or random ripples in the cesspool of our so called democracy, those colors represent the status quo. They also resentfully represent partisanship, tribal warfare, and limited thinking. So, let’s start shopping for a new color, America. How about a painting of every color that represents common sense so that our representatives make informed, rational decisions for all of us.
