There is nothing wrong with being a mechanic or a welder, but these positions are looked down upon? Why? Because these careers do not require student loans? Education is important, but that does not necessarily mean formal education. It is time to stop the propaganda and brainwashing.

If you are a mechanic or welder, you will be reading, and you will continually learn due to technology and innovation. However, many people will deter you from following that path. Why? Because an education is important but paying for an education is even more important. Yes, there are many fine higher educational institutions, but that’s not the point. The point is that diversity is a meaningless term. We celebrate diversity to show that we are tolerant to the point of intolerance. What about the diversity of ideas? That’s true diversity. What if everyone wanted to be a teacher? Society cannot be sustained. No one would produce toilet paper or toothpaste or anything else. The public-school system has set up a façade of diversity, but the top of the food chain is academics and students are pushed, coddled, or brainwashed into following academics, and if they are denied, some will cry intolerance or favoritism. We are all equal value, but we do not have equal results. Why are we creating policies that suit this fallacy?

In his book, The Road Ahead, Bill Gates rephrased the internet from an informational superhighway to a virtual marketplace. After all, we are not following the same path. On the internet, we balance checkbooks, shop, check stock quotes, gather information, watch videos. We need to follow the same formula in the schools.

Imagine you see a school custodian, and he or she is perceived as inferior. Why? Because that person did not receive a college degree with student loans for the next 30 years? Maybe that custodian likes the hours so that he/she can be home for his kids. Maybe he is working on the great American novel on the weekends. Maybe he has scientific pursuits. We must crush this imaginary and dangerous hierarchy!
