Why is a press release like a friendly greeting?
Dear business owner:
I’m sure you have had this experience of walking into a restaurant-only to be ignored!
- Give me a glance
- A nod
Something!
Ugh!
When you are acknowledged, you feel at ease. You are confident in the service that you will probably receive.
You also feel comfortable as the ice has been broken.
Imagine if your customers could have those very same warm feelings when they enter your store or your business.
Just imagine.
Let’s be realistic.
Many customers are googling your company or reviewing Yelp reviews.
They already know something about your business or your brand.
But do they really know YOUR mission or YOUR passion?
Probably not.
And that’s when a press release is very valuable for your business.
Whether it is an introduction into a community, an event, or a latest production or innovation, a press release acts as a nod, a greeting or a welcome.
This is your opportunity to express to the community that your brand is not just about making money; it is about your mission and your passion.
Even though customers may or may not feel your passion through a press release, they have the opportunity to be introduced to your brand and what it’s about.
When you are in the restaurant and someone greets you or at least becomes aware that you are present, you feel welcomed to stay and maybe look around.
If it’s a sports bar, you might admire posters or jerseys of some of the owner’s favorite athletes.
Or you might be in a five-star restaurant and see many Thomas Kincaid paintings.
You start talking about a particular painting and the owner is there and you start chatting with her.
You develop a rapport and you have a lifelong customer.
With a press release, you have the opportunity to show your potential customers as much of the “restaurant” as you possibly can.
You can allow them to visualize what your brand and business are all about. Not just the day-day operations but also the things that drive or inspire you as a business owner.
There are many restaurants near my house, but the ones I return to are the ones that make me feel welcome.
Not every business creates a press release just like not every restaurant or other businesses go out of their way to greet you or say hello or make you feel welcome.
Press releases also serve as a reminder to the public that you are still here, and when the customers decide to go shop or dine, your brand is fresh in their minds.
So, the businesses that go the extra mile are the ones that remain.
Consider a press release for the next time you have an event, a latest innovation or a new store or promotion.
Remember, the more the population grows, the more people feel less significant, so make them feel special with a nod, a greeting or a warm smile.
You will be rewarded!
